The Kettwiesel ONE is the centrepiece of our range: a trike for adults and young people that suits everyone – from physically active riders to people with physical limitations, balance problems or those during or after rehab. It uses the delta design with one steering wheel at the front and two drive wheels at the rear, has a chair with backrest, a MacPherson suspension with 70 mm travel and can be adjusted in minutes for body heights from approx. 1.10 m to 2.00 m and up to 140 kg rider weight. The Kettwiesel ONE is a trike for adults that you can ride straight away – no settling-in period, no balancing, with or without electric assistance.

The Kettwiesel ONE family includes several variants for different requirements:

Kettwiesel ONE – the core of the Kettwiesel series, with lower handlebar, Shimano EP6 Cargo motor and Shimano Nexus Di2 5-speed gearing.

Kettwiesel ONE UP – the upper handlebar variant, also with Shimano EP6 Cargo motor, for riders who prefer the familiar handlebar position on a trike.

Kettwiesel ONE PLUS – with lower handlebar, the powerful Bosch Performance Line CX motor (100 Nm, 400 % assistance) and stepless Enviolo Automatiq shifting. Our premium Kettwiesel ONE.

Kettwiesel ONE UP PLUS – like the PLUS, but with upper handlebar.

Kettwiesel ONE REHA and Kettwiesel ONE UP REHA – specially equipped trikes for adults with physical limitations. Both have an aid item number for cost coverage by German statutory health insurers.

Kettwiesel ONE Handbike – for people who cannot or can barely use their legs and want to propel and steer their trike with their arms.

Which variant suits you depends on your physical situation, intended use and preferences – best tried out at a dealer.

The upper handlebar looks like a conventional bicycle handlebar and therefore feels familiar when standing still. In practice, however, it is not ideal for the trike geometry: the arms are raised higher, which can become tiring on longer rides. The lower handlebar looks unfamiliar at first – but feels immediately more intuitive and comfortable on a first test ride. The arms hang relaxed downwards, the shoulders stay loose, and the position can be individually adjusted to a very natural posture. Around 80–90 % of our customers come in wanting an upper handlebar – and leave the Schaltwerk with a trike fitted with a lower handlebar.

Tipping over is virtually impossible thanks to the delta design with two rear wheels. The low centre of gravity, the MacPherson suspension and the integrated differential ensure that the trike remains safe and stable even when cornering at speed.

All variants of the Kettwiesel ONE can be adjusted quickly and steplessly for body heights from approx. 1.10 m to 2.00 m. The frame extends in length without any changes to the chain or other components. The maximum rider weight is 140 kg.

From approx. 35 kg, depending on specification. Weight depends mainly on motor, battery and gearing.

Not in the classic sense – but it can be compacted very effectively. The seat folds flat, the frame slides together, and the trike then fits in most estate car boots and on certain rear-mounted car racks. For everyday storage, it can be parked upright and takes up very little floor space that way.

All variants of the Kettwiesel ONE can be stood upright on the rear wheels and then take up far less space than when in riding position. Like any bicycle it can also be locked up outside – with a rain cover for the seat so it doesn’t soak up water in the rain.

Yes. There is a suitable universal mount as an accessory – tailored to the handlebar geometry of the Kettwiesel ONE trike.

The Kettwiesel ONE starts at €8,100. The exact price depends on motor, gearing and specification. We offer top-seller configurations that we keep ready-built and can therefore offer at a lower price than fully individual custom bikes. Yes. A dog basket can be attached to the Cargo Rack for the Kettwiesel ONE. Your dog then rides along at the back – and you have both hands free.

That depends heavily on how you ride. You will find the service pass with exact intervals in the owner’s manual for your trike.

The main difference is in the motor and gearing: the Kettwiesel ONE comes with the Shimano EP6 Cargo motor and Shimano Nexus Inter-5E Di2 gearing. The Kettwiesel ONE PLUS has the more powerful Bosch Performance Line CX motor (100 Nm, 400 % assistance) and the stepless Enviolo Automatiq shifting – for those who want maximum support and absolute comfort when changing gear.

That depends on your individual situation – but yes, for many people the Kettwiesel ONE is a genuine solution after a stroke. One-sided paralysis or limited hand function can be compensated with single-hand operation and adapted accessories. Best discussed in a personal consultation with us or one of our dealers.

Yes. The Kettwiesel ONE can be equipped with single-hand operation – brakes, gears and motor control are combined on one side of the handlebar. We use this solution whenever one arm or one hand is not available for any reason.

The Kettwiesel ONE with a high-assistance motor takes as much of the muscle work from you as needed. Additionally, pedal swing arms for knee relief, heel straps and special pedals with calf support can be retrofitted to keep the leg safely in position.

Often yes. The Kettwiesel ONE has an adjustable suspension fork that also influences the entry height. There is also a pedal swing arm that reduces the range of knee movement while pedalling. In a personal consultation we will work out together which combination suits you and your knees.

In many cases yes. The Kettwiesel ONE is deliberately designed so that you don’t have to step up – you sit down as you would on a chair. If you can transfer from your wheelchair to a normal chair on your own, you can probably get onto the Kettwiesel ONE on your own too. The Cargo Rack at the rear of the trike transports your folding wheelchair.

That is exactly what the Kettwiesel ONE is made for. The recumbent seat with backrest supports the spine, the MacPherson suspension absorbs bumps, and you sit comfortably rather than balancing on a saddle. Many of our customers come to us with back problems after trying a large number of other saddles and finally find the right solution for continuing to cycle with the Kettwiesel ONE.

Yes. The comfortable seat of the Kettwiesel ONE is not a saddle alternative – it is a completely different way of sitting. Pressure no longer rests on the sensitive area; instead it is distributed across the seat and back. Many people in this situation finally find their way back onto a bike after a long break from cycling.

If you need a rollator in everyday life, it obviously needs to be there when you arrive at your destination. With the Cargo Rack for the Kettwiesel ONE, your rollator simply rides along at the rear of the trike.

The MacPherson suspension of the Kettwiesel ONE with 70 mm travel is specifically suited to comfortable riding with sensitive bones and spinal conditions. It absorbs bumps before you feel them. We recommend a personal consultation to set up seat and accessories individually.

The seat of the Kettwiesel ONE has a backrest that you can adjust in angle and position. There are also accessories such as a headrest, shoulder pads and seat position adapter that provide extra support and an individually adjusted seating position.

Yes, the seat can get wet in the rain and soak up water – you should avoid that. For all our models there are matching rain covers as accessories that protect the seat when the bike is parked outside or when you ride in the rain. It is worth ordering one at the same time as your bike.

An in-house development by Hase Bikes: the shifting components run in line with the chain rather than hanging downwards. This creates more ground clearance, is more compact than conventional derailleur gearing and is specifically designed to work with the length-adjustable frame of the Kettwiesel ONE trike.

The Kettwiesel ONE has a purpose-built suspension system combining steering, a highly sensitive spring and damping – inspired by automotive engineering and optimised for the trike. Travel is 70 mm; spring preload can be adjusted with the included on-board tool for rider weights up to 140 kg.

Fold the seat flat, slide the frame together. The trike then fits in most estate car boots. Alternatively, certain specialist rear-mounted car racks work too. Setting up on arrival is simple: pull the frame out, fold the seat up, adjust the handlebars – done.

Stand it upright on the rear wheels – the trike then takes up very little floor space and is easy to move around. This is also a tried-and-tested method for dealers with limited showroom floor space.
