Our Story

We build pioneering, top-quality, fun-to-ride bikes and trikes

And that’s been our focus from the very beginning. With our trikes, tandems, and cargo bikes, you can experience extraordinary riding fun and cutting-edge technology. For 30 years, we have been pursuing our mission: helping people experience the exhilarating personal freedom that comes with cycling. In the photo gallery below, you can find out how Marec Hase went from the winner of a youth science and technology competition to the owner of a specialized bike manufacturer with almost 100 employees.

30 YEARS OF HASE BIKES

The pure joy of cycling

Kirsten and Marec Hase have always been the heart and head of the company. As head of the design department, Marec never tires of listening closely to feedback from dealers and customers and continuing to develop new and improved bikes and systems. Kirsten took responsibility for marketing and communication early on. The Schaltwerk showroom, shop, and consultation center is an excellent example of her vision for the company.

ONE TO INSPIRE

New edition of the Kettwiesel: The ONE

Optimization has always been our passion. And inclusivity and riding fun have always been our guiding principles: even with our very first Kettwiesel almost 30 years ago. Over the years, we have continued to raise the bar, making our bikes and trikes even more ergonomic, comfortable, and transportable. The new Kettwiesel ONE is our greatest achievement to date! The new Gravit DUST is a cargo bike and gravel bike in one: the perfect mix for anyone who wants a cargo bike with a sporty feel. Our first model designed specifically as a cargo bike. Thanks to its removable cargo board and adjustable wheelbase, it can fit easily on any rear-mounted car rack. The version Gravit CITY E was released at the same time: sporty, agile, and equipped with a Shimano Steps motor.

GOODBYE CAROUSELS, HELLO AIRLINER!

Start of assembly-line production

With 3,000 m² (32,300 sq. ft.) of floor space, our new production facility houses a spacious warehouse area, several meeting rooms, a café overlooking the surrounding landscape, and our “Airliner”, a production line for up to 26 bikes and trikes a day. And at the heart of the modern building, reaching almost to the ceiling, a beautiful brick wall in the architectural style of the historic coal mine creates a very special ambience.

MORE SPACE, FEWER CARS

New building and car-swap challenge

Groundbreaking ceremony: Because we are still growing, a fourth new building is being constructed. It will soon house all production processes. Also in Waltrop: the “Pino Car Swap” challenge. LIVING IN LOCKDOWN

Adaptability in challenging times

As cyclists, we are used to headwind and don’t let the pandemic slow us down. Thanks to the great number of orders and our large inventory of parts, Hase Bikes is able to continue its production without having to reduce its employees’ working hours. Of course, with new hygiene concepts, special work shifts, and several employees working from home. The annual Dealer Workshop in November is held online via Zoom for the first time, and we make a video congratulating our favorite regional trade fair, the “Spezi” in Germersheim on its 25th anniversary, after it is forced to cancel, like all other large events.
