30 YEARS OF HASE BIKES
Kirsten and Marec Hase have always been the heart and head of the company. As head of the design department, Marec never tires of listening closely to feedback from dealers and customers and continuing to develop new and improved bikes and systems. Kirsten took responsibility for marketing and communication early on. The Schaltwerk showroom, shop, and consultation center is an excellent example of her vision for the company.

ONE TO INSPIRE
Optimization has always been our passion. And inclusivity and riding fun have always been our guiding principles: even with our very first Kettwiesel almost 30 years ago. Over the years, we have continued to raise the bar, making our bikes and trikes even more ergonomic, comfortable, and transportable. The new Kettwiesel ONE is our greatest achievement to date! CARGO MEETS GRAVEL
The new Gravit DUST is a cargo bike and gravel bike in one: the perfect mix for anyone who wants a cargo bike with a sporty feel. Our first model designed specifically as a cargo bike. Thanks to its removable cargo board and adjustable wheelbase, it can fit easily on any rear-mounted car rack. The version Gravit CITY E was released at the same time: sporty, agile, and equipped with a Shimano Steps motor.

GOODBYE CAROUSELS, HELLO AIRLINER!
With 3,000 m² (32,300 sq. ft.) of floor space, our new production facility houses a spacious warehouse area, several meeting rooms, a café overlooking the surrounding landscape, and our “Airliner”, a production line for up to 26 bikes and trikes a day. And at the heart of the modern building, reaching almost to the ceiling, a beautiful brick wall in the architectural style of the historic coal mine creates a very special ambience.

OUR SCHALTWERK IN WALTROP
A dream becomes reality: The former production hall has been transformed into a beautiful new showroom. In the loft-like atmosphere, we display our bikes and trikes, offer service and consulting, and sell attractive accessories for cycling enthusiasts, Hase Bikes fans, and anyone with an appreciation for high-quality design.

MORE SPACE, FEWER CARS
Groundbreaking ceremony: Because we are still growing, a fourth new building is being constructed. It will soon house all production processes. Also in Waltrop: the “Pino Car Swap” challenge. Hase Bikes lends Pino STEPS tandems to five Waltrop families for three weeks – in exchange for their car keys.

LIVING IN LOCKDOWN
As cyclists, we are used to headwind and don’t let the pandemic slow us down. Thanks to the great number of orders and our large inventory of parts, Hase Bikes is able to continue its production without having to reduce its employees’ working hours. Of course, with new hygiene concepts, special work shifts, and several employees working from home. The annual Dealer Workshop in November is held online via Zoom for the first time, and we make a video congratulating our favorite regional trade fair, the “Spezi” in Germersheim on its 25th anniversary, after it is forced to cancel, like all other large events.

THE BEST PINO SINCE PINO
With the adjustable wheelbase, the combination cargo bike and tandem becomes even more adaptable and an even better alternative to car use. Hase Bikes grows to 53 employees and 17 trainees to help satisfy the ever-growing demand for bikes and trikes.

25 YEARS OF HASE BIKES
Unbelievable: a quarter century of Hase Bikes! We celebrate by building our own BEEST. Modeled after Theo Jansen’s strandbeests, this vehicle is used for delightfully spine-chilling performances at trade fairs and other events and celebrations, including the Eurobike, where the new Trets with under-seat steering is presented for the first time.

NEW MODULAR MODELS
The extremely versatile and affordable models Trigo and Trigo UP are launched. They become the first vehicles worldwide to receive official approval for retrofitting the Shimano Steps motor system.

RED DOT BEST OF THE BEST
Our offroad trike, the Kettwiesel CROSS, earns the Red Dot Design Award “Best of the Best.” And because everything is going so well, a further warehouse building is constructed on the grounds of the Zeche Waltrop.

RED DOT
The Pino PORTER – our first tandem with cargo-bike features – earns the Red Dot Design Award and shows how attractive cargo can be!

IF AND RED DOT
The KLIMAX 2K is showered in awards: the “IF Gold Award” and “Red Dot Design Award” for its unique design.

EUROBIKE GREEN AWARD
At Germany’s largest bicycle trade fair, we earn recognition for our pioneering work in the area of “green mobility” – for our all-weather KLIMAX 2K trike. A huge surprise, as this award is not given out every year.

NEW (LAST) NAME
Hase Spezialräder becomes Hase Bikes. Sounds as international as we have become!

CONSTRUCTION OF HALL 1
Outgrowing the historically protected colliery building, Hase Bikes builds a new hall made of steel, concrete, wood, and glass, right across the street.

VEST BUSINESS AWARD
Waltrop is situated in the district of Recklinghausen, also known among locals as the “Vest.” Hase Bikes is awarded the Vestischer Unternehmenspreis for outstanding regional businesses: with 23 employees, 7 trainees, and dealers in 21 countries.

NIGHT OF INDUSTRIAL CULTURE
The “Extraschicht – Night of Industrial Culture” is one of the region’s most exciting events. Hase Bikes takes part for the first time in 2005.

10 YEARS OF HASE BIKES
We celebrate our first double-digit anniversary – and the constantly growing sales figures – with our 16 employees. The exclusive “Titan/Race” series is launched in the same year.

WORLD RECORD IN WALTROP
Probably the world’s longest trike tandem: A total of 62 Kettwiesels hitched together as one long tandem earn an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records – with the help of countless Hase Bikes fans!

TRAILER FOR KIDS
Pedaling as a family, with a child trailer for the Pino: We add an innovative children’s trailer, the Trets, to our assortment of accessories.

FROM WALTROP TO VEGAS
The desert is alive: A Hase Bikes delegation travels to the Interbike in Las Vegas. We are mesmerized by the madness of the city and the stillness of the desert.

MOVING TO WALTROP
A dream comes true: The company, together with EFBE, moves to the historical grounds of the former coalmine Zeche Waltrop. Bikes and trikes are built on the ground floor of the former colliery building, while the Hase family moves into the rooms under the roof. A tandem show takes place in the first year.

EXPORTING TO THE US
The first Hase models are shipped across the Atlantic. We present our bikes and trikes to a large audience at the trade fair in Seattle.

THE COMPANY IS GROWING
The four-year-old company has since hired its fifth employee and begun selling its trikes and tandems throughout Europe.

NEW MODEL
A special bike among special bikes: As a long-wheelbase (LWB) model with two wheels, the Tagun becomes part of our recumbent portfolio for a short period of time.

NEW MODEL, NEW FRIENDS
The model with a higher sitting position enters series production, and the adaptive-cycling segment is expanded. In the same year, Hase begins its cooperation with the company EFBE Prüftechnik, which offers testing services for leading bicycle manufacturers.

FOUNDING A COMPANY
From award-winning engineer to entrepreneur: Marec Hase founds the company HASE-Spezialräder in Bochum. In the garage behind his parents’ home, he and his first employee, Igor Pawiltchenko, begin building their first two models: a full-suspension recumbent trike and a semi-recumbent tandem.

JUGEND FORSCHT – PART 3
Marec Hase enters the “Jugend Forscht” competition with a vehicle consisting of two recumbent seats side by side.

JUGEND FORSCHT – PART 1
At the age of 17, Marec Hase wins 1st Prize at the state youth science and technology competition “Jugend Forscht.” His entry: a tandem trike that he built himself.
