Timo Stiehl: Kettwiesel ONE

Timo Stiehl from Münster is 29 years old and someone who takes on new challenges because he loves to master things in his very own way.

His life took a drastic turn in 2016 when he was involved in a serious road accident. The result was a third-degree craniocerebral trauma, a restriction of the left side of his body and the use of a wheelchair from the outset. As an influencer, together with his girlfriend Nele Kaufhold and his assistance dog Nemo, he provides insights into his everyday life with disabilities, shows aids such as his Kettwiesel from Hase Bikes and talks about the small and large challenges that he overcomes.

Sport has always been an important part of Timo's life. A first attempt to ride an unsuitable tricycle ended unpromisingly. But then his father-in-law discovered the tricycles from Hase Bikes. Everything changed with the purchase of a Kettwiesel. Timo still remembers the exact moment when he sat on it for the first time: “I was able to drive off straight away! It was adjustable to my needs, with calf support and one-handed steering and gear shifting. It just worked!”

For him, this new mobility meant an unexpected return to freedom. Since then, the bike has been an integral part of his life. In 2018, Timo, Nele and their family went on an 80-kilometre tour with two overnight stays – with his guiding principle being to use as little motor support as possible.

Today, he rides our new Kettwiesel ONE, which was launched in summer 24. Initially as a tester, shortly afterwards he became one of the first to be able to call the new super-comfortable and customisable tricycle his own. Nowadays, he uses his Hase bike on a daily basis. For him, it is not just a means of transport, but a slice of independence: “With a wheelchair, I can get around at a maximum speed of 8 km/h, with a bike I can do 25 km/h!”

Whether it’s doctor’s appointments, errands or simply getting out into nature – his bike takes him wherever he wants to go. Timo’s motto in life? “You didn’t get out of bed to be average.” This motto seems to be how they show up in life every day: None of this trio is average.
